Counselling for Seats Other than 15% All India Seats
- Candidates seeking admission to State Medical Colleges, Universities, or Institutions based on the NEET UG 2025 merit list must follow the NEET UG counselling process outlined by the respective State Governments and authorities of the concerned medical or dental institutions. Counselling for private medical colleges, excluding Deemed Universities, will also be conducted by the respective state authorities.
- Each counselling body of NEET UG counselling process will prepare a merit list based on the category information provided by candidates at the time of registration. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will not alter any candidate’s data after the correction window has closed. Once the NEET result is declared, no further changes to the application details will be allowed.
- In the application form, candidate categories are recorded as per the Central Category List. For admission through quotas other than the 15% All India Quota (AIQ), candidates must register using the relevant category as per the State Category List. Merit lists for state counselling will be created accordingly. Domicile requirements and other eligibility norms are determined by the respective states, and NTA does not play any role in this process.
- During the NEET UG counselling process, candidate eligibility, category claims, and supporting documents will be verified by the respective authorities or institutions as per their guidelines.
Note: Except for AIIMS and JIPMER, all medical colleges in India admit students based on NEET 2025 scores. Candidates who qualify the exam should prepare for both All India and State-level counselling. For government colleges, the MCC conducts counselling for 15% AIQ seats, while state authorities handle the remaining 85%. Counselling for all seats in Deemed and Central Universities is carried out by the MCC. Admission to private or self-financed colleges is overseen entirely by the respective state counselling bodies.
