Diphu Medical College is a famous government medical college in Assam. It is affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS). The college, initially named Assam Hills Medical College and Research Institute (AHMC&RI), was established in 2011.
The foundation stone was laid on January 19, 2011, by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the then Health Minister of Assam, at Baghmari, Diphu. Present at the event were MP Biren Singh Engti, State HAD Minister Khorsing Engti, Parliamentary Secretary Bidya Sing Engleng, and MLA Mansing Rongpi. On November 21, 2019, the institution was renamed Diphu Medical College under the Governor of Assam’s notification, prioritizing public interest.
The college was officially inaugurated on November 25, 2019, by Minister Pijush Hazarika alongside Tuliram Ronghang (KAAC CEM) and MP Horensingh Bey.
