NEET PG 2024 Karnataka Admission Criteria
Students get admission to medical colleges in Karnataka by passing NEET PG 2024 exam and going through a counseling process. KEA organizes the counseling process for non-deemed Medical colleges in Karnataka; for deemed Medical colleges in Karnataka, it’s done by MCC.
Important Notice
Based in Bengaluru, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has authorized the Government of Karnataka to conduct online and offline counseling to allocate seats for Post Graduate degrees. The seats are allocated in government PG medical colleges, government seats in private and minority PG medical colleges, and private seats in private medical colleges, including KPCF, KRLMPCA, AMPCK, and private universities, located in Karnataka for the academic year 2024-25.
The admission process in Karnataka is governed by the Karnataka Conduct of Entrance Test for Selection and Admission to PG Medical Courses Rules 2006, amended as required, and per the regulations of MCI/DCI/Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Director Medical Education Karnataka, PG Entrance Test Committee, and the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India regarding the conduct of centralized counseling for the seats designated by the Karnataka State Government in government, KPCF, KRLMPCA, AMPCK, and private university institutions.
Karnataka NEET PG 2024 Registration Fees
To appear in NEET PG 2024, applicants must complete the online registration. Paper applications will not be accepted. Any details entered during registration must be kept the same. The registration fee must be paid through the payment gateway and varies depending on the applicant’s category and residency status. Mere qualification in NEET PG 2024 only guarantees admission if eligibility conditions are met and certificates are submitted. Applicants must complete the registration process and document verification to be considered for PG Medical seats in Government / Private Colleges in Karnataka. Only qualified or registered applicants will be considered for admission. KEA will send a list of registered and verified but unallotted candidates to colleges after the mop-up Round to fill any remaining vacancies per GOI instructions.
Instructions
Candidates must submit their applications online for Karnataka State NEET PG 2024. The Information Bulletin can be downloaded from the official Website, and the application form must be submitted online at the same Website. It is essential to strictly follow the instructions in the Information Bulletin and notifications on the KEA website. Failure to comply with the following instructions will result in disqualification. Candidates must keep at least two printouts of the submitted online application, fees paid receipt and two identical passport-sized photographs (uploaded during the online application) for future reference and correspondence.
Compulsory Rural Service
All candidates, except those who have completed compulsory rural service after receiving their MBBS degree, who are admitted to PG Medical Degree/Diploma courses and complete their studies successfully, must undergo one year of compulsory service in a government hospital in an urban area. This is per the Karnataka Compulsory Service Act 2012 and its subsequent amendments and regulations. Candidates will only receive temporary registration until this service is completed. Candidates who select government seats, including the All India Quota (AIQ), for Post Graduate Medical Courses, must provide a written undertaking to serve the Government for at least three years after finishing the course if the Government desires it.
Karnataka NEET PG 2024 Eligibility Criteria
- To be qualified for admission, the candidate must have scored equal to or above the minimum score prescribed in NEET PG 2024.
- The candidate must have completed their MBBS course from a recognized institution approved by MCI respectively.
- The candidate must have completed or is completing their Compulsory Rotating Internship.
- The eligibility criteria for SC / ST / OBC / Linguistic minorities are applicable as per the State Government policy. However, if any OBC candidate of Karnataka has yet to claim OBC in NEET PG 2024, they can claim the respective category in KEA.
- A PG degree candidate in any clinical specialty is not eligible for admission to any Post Graduate Degree Course.
- Candidates who have obtained their undergraduate medical qualifications from medical colleges outside India must have qualified in the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by the National Board of Examinations. They should also be registered with MCI and have completed their internship or will likely complete it.
Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals must ensure that their medical qualification is registered with the appropriate authority in their home country and is recognized by the corresponding medical council or relevant authority. In addition, they must obtain a temporary registration certificate from MCI for the duration of their PG course. Candidates who apply online through KEA will be eligible for document verification. The list of qualified candidates will be prepared based on the results/ranks published by the National Board of Examination (NBE) in New Delhi.
Karnataka NEET PG 2024 Seats Classification
GOVERNMENT SEATS
- 50% of seats in government colleges, with the remaining 50% to be filled through All India Quota counseling by MCC.
- 33% of seats in private non-minority colleges.
- 20% of seats in private minority (religious and linguistic) colleges.
- 40% of seats in private university colleges.
PRIVATE SEATS
- In KPCF Colleges, 42% of seats are reserved as private quota seats. In KRLMPCA and AMPCK Colleges, 55% of seats are reserved as private quota seats.
NRI SEATS
- 15% of the total seats reserved for NRI quota in KPCF, KRLMPCA, AMPCK colleges, and private universities.
OTHER SEATS
10% of the total seats are reserved for others in KPCF, KRLMPCA & AMPCK colleges, and 5% in a private university.
Eligibility
ELIGIBILITY for Government seats
To be eligible, the student must fulfill the following criteria:
- Be an Indian citizen;
- Have completed and passed MBBS from a recognized medical institution in Karnataka; or
- Have completed and passed MBBS from a recognized medical institution in India, with a minimum of ten years of academic education commencing from 1st Standard to 12th Standard.
- Student must passed either SSLC or 10th Standard or 2nd PUC or 12th standard equivalent examination from the state of Karnataka.
ELIGIBILITY for Private seats
(GMP, OPN & MK, MA, ME, MU, MC, MM seats)
GMP
A candidate who fulfills the eligibility according to the criteria clause b/c.
OPN
A student who is a citizen of India; and has studied and passed MBBS in a recognized Medical institution.
For Religious Minority
- Christian Minority of Karnataka & Non-Karnataka.
- Muslim Minority of Karnataka & Non- Karnataka
Linguistic Minority (MA, ME, MK, MU)
A candidate who belongs to the linguistic minority of the Karnataka state and whose mother tongue is Tamil, Telugu, Kodava, or Tulu is eligible for Linguistic Minority Reservation. Additionally, a candidate who has studied and passed in one or more Government or Govt. recognized educational universities in Karnataka for a minimum period of ten academic years starting from 1st Standard to 12th Standard and have appeared and passed SSLC/10th Standard or 2nd PUC/12th standard examination from the Karnataka State are also eligible for the reservation.
Eligibility for NRI seats
The following candidates are eligible to apply for admission to the PG Medical courses:
- Those who have obtained an MBBS degree from a recognized medical institution approved by MCI.
- NRI/NRI Wards/PIO/OCI candidates and Foreign Nationals.
iii. Children of Non-Resident Indians or their Wards.
- As per the definitions provided in The Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions Act, 2006, read with the Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Amendment) Act, 2017, and the Income Tax Act 1961 Section 115 C (e) & 6, “Non-Resident Indian” means a person who is an Indian citizen or a Person of Indian Origin residing outside India, which includes Persons of Indian Origin & Overseas Citizens of India.
Eligibility for Other seats
To be qualified for admission, the candidate must have completed an MBBS or BDS degree from a medical or dental college affiliated with a University recognized by the MCI and the Government of India. All candidates qualified in NEET PG 2024 are eligible, except for NRI / PIO / OCI and Foreign Nationals.
Document Required
The following documents are required for registration in the KEA ‘PGET-2024’:
- The KEA ‘PGET-2024’ Registration form (printout) filled out.
- A photo identity and address proof document such as PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar Card, or Ration Card.
- The ‘NEET-PG 2024’ Admit Card and score card issued by NBE for Medical courses.
- The SSLC or 10th Standard/equivalent marks card for date of birth.
- The 2nd PUC or 12th Standard Marks Card.
- The MBBS mark sheet given by Universities of all phases/years.
- The qualifying degree certificate.
- The Provisional Degree Certificate is only for those who passed MBBS in 2021.
- The Certificate of Internship completion in Annexure 5 for candidates who have already completed the internship.
- The Certificate from the Head of the institution certifying that MCI recognizes the Medical College from which the candidate has passed the MBBS examination.
- The State/Central Medical Certificate and only the provisional registration certificate will be accepted for those who passed MBBS in 2021. The Original Permanent Registration certificate must be uploaded by candidates who passed before 2021.
The Eligibility Certificate (Other University).
All candidates are required to produce an UNDERTAKING (Annexure 7) on white paper. The same undertaking must be obtained on Rs. 20 e-Stamps Paper in the candidate’s name and submitted to the Karnataka Examinations Authority. Upon submission of this document, the candidate’s admission process is deemed completed, and they become eligible for admission/allotment of a User ID and Secret Key.
For Foreign Nationals
A foreign national seeking admission must obtain a qualification registration certificate from the corresponding medical council or relevant authority in their home country where they obtained their basic medical graduate qualification. Additionally, they must obtain a temporary registration certificate from the Medical Council of India (MCI) within one month of securing admission.
Religious Minority (Muslim & Christian Minority)
A certificate issued by the Tahsildar of the concerned district is required for those who wish to apply under the Non-Karnataka Religious Minority quota. This Certificate should certify that the candidate belongs to a religious minority.
Linguistic Minority (Tulu, Tamil, Telugu & Kodava)
To be eligible for the Linguistic Minority Quota under Non-Karnataka Linguistic Minority, candidates must provide a Linguistic Minority certificate issued by the BEO/DDPI, as well as a study certificate from the Head of an educational institution located in the State of Karnataka, demonstrating that they have studied for a minimum of 10 years, including either the 10th or 12th Standard.
Steps in online submission of application form
The candidate enters the required information to create their profile, including their NEET-PG 2024 Roll Number. Details such as the candidate’s name, father’s, mother’s, date of birth, NBE Score, and mobile number are automatically retrieved from NBE data. An OTP is sent to the candidate’s registered mobile number, which should be kept from anyone else. The candidate must enter their eligibility clause code, reservation category, educational qualification, and contact details. If eligible for in-service, this should also be entered. The candidate must upload their photograph, left thumb impression, and signature. Instructions for uploading the photograph, thumb impression, and signature can be found on the official website. The registration fee must be paid according to the instructions, and the completed application form must be printed and submitted. Karnataka PG Medical Counseling Procedure
The allocation of seats will be based on the seat matrix issued by the Government for each discipline, which will be available on the KEA website. The seat matrix will be categorized by college, course, and reservation category. The seat allocation will be determined based on merit, the candidate’s priority of options, and the government-prescribed roster. Multiple iterations of seat allocation will be conducted, including the first, second, and mop-up rounds. Candidates and parents can access the relevant information on the KEA website.
- Qualify for NEET: To be eligible for admission to medical colleges in Karnataka, you must have qualified for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
- Register with KEA: Once you have qualified for NEET, you need to register with the KEA by filling out the application form on their website.
- Document Verification: After registration, you will be called for document verification at one of the designated help centers.
- Choice Filling: Once your documents have been verified, you can log in to the KEA website and fill in your choices of colleges and courses based on your NEET score.
- Seat Allotment: Based on your NEET score and your choices, the KEA will allocate seats in various medical colleges in Karnataka.
- Payment of Fees: Once you are allotted a seat, you need to pay the required fees and complete the admission process at the respective college.

Forfeiture of seats selected during counseling
To cancel a seat in the first Round one day before the second round of counseling, the candidate must pay a processing fee of Rs. 10,000/-. Suppose a candidate is allotted any clinical seat in the second-round allotment and fails to join the course before the last date of joining the second Round of counseling as notified. In that case, they shall pay a sum of Rs.1,00,000/ for a Medical Degree and Rs. 50,000/ for Medical courses. In such cases, the candidates will also become ineligible for further rounds of counseling or admissions for that academic year. If a candidate cancels admission after the last date of joining for the second round and one day before the mop-up Round, a penalty of Rs.5,00,000/ for a Medical degree and Rs2,50,000/ for Medical courses will be collected.
Any cancellation or surrender of seats after the mop-up Round shall be made in person to the Director, Directorate of Medical Education, Karnataka, with a penalty of Rs 15,00,000/ in case of Medical Clinical Degree Courses and Rs 5,00,000/ in case of Dental Degree or Diploma Courses and forfeiture of fees paid before the last date of admission as notified. Candidates shall furnish a bond at the time of admission binding themselves to pay a sum of Rs. 5,00,000 for a Medical degree and Rs. 2,50,000 for Medical courses as a penalty in the event of their leaving the course before its completion after the last date of admission for that academic year as notified by Medical Council of India. In addition to the prescribed penalty, all candidates (including in-service candidates) shall pay the entire course fee and a stipend to the respective Medical/Dental colleges if they leave the course before completion.
All candidates selecting Government seats, including All India quota (AIQ) in Post Graduate Medical Courses, shall furnish an undertaking that they shall serve the Government for at least three years after completion of the course if Government desires. In-service candidates shall furnish a bond in the form specified by the Government that they shall be rendering service in the Government for a minimum period of ten years. Suppose candidates need to comply with the conditions given as per the undertaking. In that case, they shall be liable to pay a penalty of Rs. 50,00,000 in the case of Post Graduate Medical degree and Rs. 25,00,000 in the case of Post Graduate Medical Diploma to the Government. Any cancellation or surrender shall be made at the Directorate of Medical Education after that academic year’s last admission date.
