LIBRARY
The Central Library at St. John’s Medical College was initially situated on the first floor of the college building, providing a spacious area for storing books, periodical back volumes, and current journals. In the early stages (1974), a branch of the library was established at St. Martha’s Hospital to cater to the needs of St. John’s Medical College staff, registrars, students, and interns.
Operated by a staff in-charge, a clerk, and a helper from St. John’s Medical College Hospital, this branch extended borrowing privileges exclusively to SJMC members while continuing reference services for St. Martha’s Hospital staff, students from various medical institutions, and practitioners in and around Bangalore. The library was later relocated to St. John’s Medical College in 1981 when clinical departments shifted to St. John’s Medical College Hospital, leaving behind a significant collection at St. Martha’s.
Subsequently, on February 24, 1986, the library was moved to a new standalone building, named Zablocki Learning Centre after benefactor Clement John Zablocki, a US Congress Member from Wisconsin in 1948. At present, the three-story building houses reference books on the ground floor, while the lending section, current periodicals, and back volumes of the last five years are stored on the first floor. Both floors offer ample reading space, and provisions are made for audio-visual aids, microfilms, and a seminar room. The library is open for 14 hours from Monday to Saturday, four hours on Sundays, and during hospital working days.
In March 2016, the Golden Jubilee block was inaugurated, providing a personal book reading section on the first floor for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Furthermore, in September 2022, a second personal book reading hall was opened on the second floor, accessible from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm (365 days a year) and 24 hours during exam periods. The Golden Jubilee Block Lecture Theatre-1 basement houses the back volumes of bound journals and serial publications.
Embracing current needs, the library offers databases in a single platform, allowing users to access them on institutional desktops and remotely from home. Notable databases include UpToDate, Web of Science, BMJ, and Turnitin for international plagiarism checks. The library also provides access to online databases Clinical Key and Jaypee Digital through the Helinet consortium by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. SKILLS LAB & SIMULATION CENTRE

The journey to materialize the idea of a simulation center began during the planning of the institutional Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2013. A committee, led by Dr. Sanjiv Lewin and Dr. Swarna Rekha, initiated the plans in 2013 to address the educational needs of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Under the guidance of Director Rev Fr Dr Paul Parathazham and Associate Director for College Rev Fr Duming Dias, the implementation gained momentum.
In 2017, Dr. John Stephen was appointed to lead a team for the establishment of the Clinical Skills Lab and Simulation Centre, with Dr. Jui and Dr. Nachiket serving as coordinators. The realization of their vision culminated in the formal inauguration of the simulation center on February 7, 2018. Subsequently, skills training was seamlessly integrated into the MBBS curriculum from August 2018 onwards. The center extended its reach by conducting workshops for both in-house participants and those from external institutions.
In November 2019, St. John’s Medical College collaborated with Laerdal to host an international conference on simulation. Throughout 2019, the center conducted 51 training sessions for undergraduate students and 37 sessions for interns, postgraduate students, and faculty. The Simulation Centre currently boasts a diverse collection of over one hundred mannequins, acquired from Laerdal Medical. 2. To be eligible for admission at St. John’s Medical College, candidates must meet specific academic criteria. They are required to have passed the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually. Additionally, they must secure a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology taken together in the final examination of the Pre-University Course or its equivalent. “I am satisfied with the allotted seat and am willing to report to the allotted college; therefore, I should not be considered for further allotment of seats in any subsequent round for any college/discipline. I will pay the prescribed fees for the seat allotted by downloading the e-Challan or NEFT/RTGS/IMPS Challan or through the online payment gateway as per the procedure detailed on the KEA Website.
I will deposit the original documents and later download the admission order to report to the college. Immediately afterward, I will log in to my Option Entry Log-In-Id and inform KEA that I have joined the college. The college authority must also log in to their College Login ID and report that I have joined the college. Failure to report back to KEA about joining the college will result in the cancellation of the seat, even if physically joined.
Furthermore, if I have paid the fees, obtained the Admission Order, and failed to report to the college on or before the last date and time specified by KEA in the Admission Order, no extension of time will be granted. The allotment made in my favor shall be treated as canceled, and I will have no further claim on such allotment. I will not be considered for the allotment of seats in subsequent rounds, and such seats will revert to the pool, with the forfeit of the fees paid.
Implication: Not eligible to participate in the subsequent rounds.
Important: Before opting for this choice, I am advised to confirm that I cannot return to the Option Entry Process in UGNEET-2024/UGCET-2024.”
Choice 2 – Satisfaction with Participation in the Next Round:

“I am satisfied with the allotted seat but wish to participate in the next round. I will pay the prescribed fees by downloading the Challan/allotted details from the KEA website for the confirmed or allotted seat in the first round and deposit the original documents. If higher options are allotted, the earlier allotted seat will be automatically canceled. If higher options’ seats are not allotted, the earlier allotted seat will remain in my favor.
Implication: Eligible to participate in the subsequent round while keeping the initially allotted seat on hold. However, if a seat in the higher options gets allotted, I will lose the old seat. There is no choice between the earlier allotted and newly allotted seats. I must compulsorily join the selected college allotted in the second-round seat allotment without providing any reasons/excuses.
Important: Fresh options will be permitted only for the new college/courses included in the seat matrix after the first-round allotment, specifically for the newly added college/course.”
Choice 3 – Dissatisfaction with Participation in the Next Round:
If you are not satisfied with the allotted seat but wish to participate in the next round by surrendering the allotted seat, choose:

General Instructions for Mop-Up Round Counselling:
1. Candidates allotted any Medical seat in the First Round (Choice 1 & 2) or Second Round are not eligible to participate.
2. Candidates allotted seats under All India Quota / Deemed University / ESIC / any state boards, etc., are not eligible to participate.
3. Candidates who did not exercise any option in the first or second round are not eligible for the mop-up round.
4. Candidates who joined the college after allotment in the All India Counseling, including Counseling for Deemed Universities, are not eligible for the mop-up round.
5. Candidates allotted a Dental seat through KEA can participate in the selection of a Medical seat only, not for a dental seat again.
6. Candidates registered & verified exclusively for the mop-up round are eligible.
7. Eligible candidates must register their interest in participating in the mop-up round on the KEA portal as per the schedule. They must download the entry pass for the mop-up round and produce it at the venue on the day of counseling.

10. Candidates must pay the prescribed fees in the form of a demand draft drawn in favor of “The Executive Director, KEA” payable at Bangalore. Online payment, cheques, or cash are not allowed.
11. Check the KEA Website for seat availability / vacant seats for the mop-up round allotment before participating.
12. The mop-up round may extend into late hours. Candidates are advised to come prepared; they may carry some food and medicines if required.
13. Counseling will be stopped once the seats are exhausted. Candidates/parents are informed to check the availability of seats before participating in the mop-up round.
14. If any seats get canceled/surrendered or become vacant before the mop-up round, such seats will be considered for allotment in the respective category first. Any unallotted Government reserved seat after exhausting the last rank will be decategorized and offered to the next eligible candidates.
15. All other instructions/orders issued by Apex Bodies/Government will apply.

Karnataka NEET PG Counseling 2024
Based in Bengaluru, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has authorized the Government of Karnataka to conduct online and offline counseling to allocate seats for postgraduate degrees. The seats are allocated in government PG medical colleges, government seats in private and minority PG medical colleges, and private seats in private medical colleges, including KPCF, KRLMPCA, AMPCK, and private universities, located in Karnataka for the academic year 2024-25.
The admission process in Karnataka is governed by the Karnataka Conduct of Entrance Test for Selection and Admission to PG Medical Courses Rules 2006, amended as required, and per the regulations of MCI/DCI/Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Director Medical Education Karnataka, PG Entrance Test Committee, and the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India regarding the conduct of centralized counseling for the seats designated by the Karnataka State Government in government, KPCF, KRLMPCA, AMPCK, and private university institutions.
Karnataka NEET PG 2024 Registration Fees
The registration fee must be paid through the payment gateway and varies depending on the applicant’s category and residency status. The prescribed registration fee of Rs. 500/- (for SC/ST/Cat-1/PWD candidates), Rs. 1000/- (for General/2A/2B/3A/3B candidates) Rs.3000/- for non-Karnataka, and Rs. 6000/- (for NRI/OCI/ PIO/ Foreign Nationals candidates) should be remitted through the payment gateway.
Compulsory Rural Service
All candidates, except those who have completed compulsory rural service after receiving their MBBS degree, who are admitted to PG Medical Degree/Diploma courses and complete their studies successfully, must undergo one year of compulsory service in a government hospital in an urban area. This is per the Karnataka Compulsory Service Act 2012 and its subsequent amendments and regulations. Candidates will only receive temporary registration until this service is completed. Candidates who select government seats, including the All India Quota (AIQ), for Post Graduate Medical Courses, must provide a written undertaking to serve the Government for at least three years after finishing the course if the Government desires it.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR KARNATAKA NEET PG COUNSELING 2024
The following documents are required for registration in the KEA ‘PGET-2024’:
- The KEA ‘PGET-2024’ Registration form (printout) filled out.
- A photo identity and address proof document such as a PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar Card, or Ration Card.
- The ‘NEET-PG 2024’ Admit Card and score card issued by NBE for Medical courses.
- The SSLC or 10th Standard/equivalent marks card for date of birth.
- The 2nd PUC or 12th Standard Marks Card.
- The MBBS mark sheet given by Universities of all phases/years.
- The qualifying degree certificate.
- The Provisional Degree Certificate is only for those who passed MBBS in 2021.
- The Certificate of Internship completion in Annexure 5 for candidates who have already completed the internship.
- The Certificate from the Head of the institution certifying that MCI recognizes the Medical College from which the candidate has passed the MBBS examination.
- The State/Central Medical Certificate and only the provisional registration certificate will be accepted for those who passed MBBS in 2021. The Original Permanent Registration certificate must be uploaded by candidates who passed before 2021.
Steps in Online Submission of Application Form for Karnataka NEET PG Counseling 2024
The candidate enters the required information to create their profile, including their NEET-PG 2024 Roll Number. Details such as the candidate’s name, father’s, mother’s, date of birth, NBE Score, and mobile number are automatically retrieved from NBE data. An OTP is sent to the candidate’s registered mobile number, which should be kept from anyone else. The candidate must enter their eligibility clause code, reservation category, educational qualification, and contact details.
If eligible for in-service, this should also be entered. The candidate must upload their photograph, left thumb impression, and signature. Karnataka NEET PG Counseling Process
The allocation of seats will be based on the seat matrix issued by the Government for each discipline, which will be available on the KEA website. The seat matrix will be categorized by college, course, and reservation category. The seat allocation will be determined based on merit, the candidate’s priority of options, and the government-prescribed roster. Multiple iterations of seat allocation will be conducted, including the first, second, and mop-up rounds. Candidates and parents can access the relevant information on the KEA website.
Post Allotment Procedures
The First Round seat allotment list will be announced on the Website.
Choice 1
Applicants who are satisfied with the seat allotted to them and wish to refrain from participating in any further rounds of seat allotment for any discipline must undergo biometric verification, pay the required fees, and submit their original documents to obtain the admission order. They must report to the allotted college on or before the last date specified in the admission order. Additionally, they must log in to their Option Entry Log-In-Id and inform KEA that they have joined.
Failure to report back to KEA will result in the cancellation of their seat, even if they have physically joined the college. Candidates who have paid the fees and obtained the admission order but must report to the college by the specified date and time will not be given an extension, and their seat allotment will be considered canceled. They will not be eligible for subsequent rounds of seat allotment, and the seat will be returned to the pool. Any fee paid by such candidates will be forfeited.
Choice 2
To participate in the next Round while being satisfied with the currently allotted seat, the candidate must pay the required fees and await the schedule for submitting original documents after undergoing Biometric verification. The candidate will not receive an admission order. Suppose there is a provision for the up-gradation of the candidate’s option entry. In that case, the seat will be allotted in the Second Round, and the earlier seat will be canceled automatically. If no seat is allotted in the 2nd Round, the previously allotted seat will remain valid for the candidate.
Choice 3
Suppose the student is not fully satisfied with the current allotment to participate in the next counseling round. In that case, the previously allotted seat will be forfeited and offered to the next eligible candidate. The candidate should wait for the schedule to submit the original documents before the second round of online seat allotment and wait for the second Round. However, the candidate must submit the original documents to qualify for the second-seat allotment round.
Choice 4
The candidate is relinquishing the KEA allotted seat as they have secured admission to another institution. Consequently, the candidate should not be considered for seat allotment in subsequent rounds.
Mop-up Round
If any vacant seats remain after the second round of allotment, a mop-up round may be conducted for all categories of seats. Only certain types of candidates are eligible to participate in the mop-up Round, including those who have not joined the college after being allotted seats in the first or second round of All India Counseling (subject to any conditions stipulated by the GOI) and those who have not been allotted any clinical seat in the second round of state counseling.
