Students who aspire to secure NRI Quota MBBS Admission in government and private medical colleges in Himachal Pradesh can do so through the NRI quota. This region has seven esteemed medical colleges, where 43 seats have been reserved for NRI admissions. The admission process for NRI students closely resembles that of Indian residents, as it primarily relies on the marks obtained in the (NEET-UG). The NEET-UG examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The eligibility of an NRI student for admission is determined by their NEET rank, which is evaluated based on the candidate’s performance compared to other applicants applying under the NRI quota.
NRI students interested in seeking admission and have successfully qualified for the NEET examination, meeting the necessary eligibility requirements, can register for the counseling process. This involves completing and submitting the application form and paying the prescribed fee. Registration for counseling serves as a crucial step for NRI students aspiring to secure a seat in their desired medical college in Himachal Pradesh. By participating in the counseling process, NRI students can compete for the available NRI quota seats and secure admission based on their merit in the NEET examination.

Himachal Pradesh NEET UG Counselling Procedure
- A secure online counseling system will be implemented for the provisional allocation of available seats based on the candidates’ merit, choices, and preferences. This process will be conducted within a specified period through the University’s website, www.amruhp.ac.in. Candidates will have the opportunity to modify their choices of course, college, and quota during the given period after the display of the merit list, which will be prepared per the combined and category-wise merit ranks of qualified candidates in the NEET-UG-2025 All India Merit. Candidates must exercise caution and accuracy while selecting their choices and preferences for the course, college (s), and quota.
- After the provisional allocation of seats in the counseling rounds, candidates can log in to their accounts on the University website to download their provisional admission letters. They must then report to the Principal of the respective college with all the original documents and a printed copy of the confirmation of the online application form. These documents and their photocopies (self-attested) will be verified. Once the original documents are verified, the prescribed eligibility criteria are met, medical fitness is confirmed, and the required fees are submitted, candidates must report to the college where they have been provisionally allocated for their joining.
- Following the completion of the 1st round of counseling, the University will conduct the 2nd round according to the schedule provided. The online counseling form will be made available on the website www.amruhp.ac.in. During this period, candidates must submit fresh choices and preferences for courses, colleges, and quotas to be provisionally allocated vacant seats. All candidates listed in the AMRU merit list published by the University are eligible to fill out the online counseling form for the 2nd round. If a candidate is satisfied with the seat allocated during the 1st round of counseling, they are not required to participate in subsequent rounds. During the 2nd round of counseling, candidates may also be eligible for shifting or upgrading from one medical college to another. Those allocated seats during this round must pay a token amount or registration fee as specified, depending on their choice of course, college, and quota. Failure to remit this fee will result in the candidate not being allocated a seat. It is important to note that candidates who have already been admitted during the 1st round of counseling in Government Medical Colleges, including Private Colleges, are exempt from paying the token fee when filling out the counseling form for the 2nd round.
- Following the completion of the 1st and 2nd rounds of counseling, the University will release the schedule for the Mop-up round of counseling. The counseling form will be made available on the official website, www.amruhp.ac.in. Candidates eligible for the mop-up round must complete the online application form with fresh choices and preferences for courses, colleges, and quotas within the given period. Along with the application form, candidates must also submit the prescribed token amount of fee, if applicable, for provisional allocation against the vacant seats. If a candidate is satisfied with the seat allocated to them in the previous rounds of online counseling, they are not required to participate in subsequent rounds. During the mop-up round of counseling, no inter-se-shifting from one Government Medical College to another Medical College will be allowed, per the guidelines set by the NMC.
