The NIRF ranking system relies on a range of parameters and methodologies crafted by a committee established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), endorsed by the Ministry of Education, evaluates colleges using parameters and methodologies recommended by a committee convened by the MHRD. The criteria for ranking institutions excelling in medical education include:
(i) Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR)
(ii) Research and Professional Practice (RPP)
(iii) Graduation Outcomes (GO)
(iv) Outreach and Inclusivity (OI)
(v) Perception
The framework received formal approval and was launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, preceding the Ministry of Education, on September 29, 2015. Since its establishment, NIRF has been instrumental in ranking and comparing universities, colleges, and other higher education institutions in India. It plays a pivotal role in promoting transparency and accountability within the Indian higher education system. The rankings produced by NIRF are highly regarded and serve as a valuable tool for students, educators, policymakers, and the general public to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of higher education institutions in India.
