The NEET PG 2024 was conducted on Sunday in two shifts across 416 centres in 170 cities by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), an autonomous body under the Union Health Ministry. Initially scheduled for June 23, the exam was postponed as a precaution due to concerns about the integrity of certain competitive exams.
The Health Ministry stated that conducting the exam in two shifts on the same day allowed for the selection of the best and most reputable centres. Admit cards were issued to 2,28,540 candidates, with efforts made to allocate centres within their home states whenever possible.
To ensure smooth execution, NBEMS established a central command centre at its Dwarka office in Delhi, where officials from the Union Health Ministry and NBEMS, along with the board’s executive director, monitored the process. Over 1,950 independent appraisers and 300 flying squad members were deployed to the exam centres, supported by eight regional command centres overseeing the nationwide exam.
NBEMS also closely monitored social media to prevent misinformation and ensured that only accurate information was shared with stakeholders. The robust security measures and coordination among various agencies ensured the safe and successful conduct of NEET PG 2024, maintaining the integrity of the exam.
