In a major disciplinary action, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has annulled the NEET PG results of 22 candidates accused of using unfair means in exams held between 2021 and 2025. According to an official notification, 13 of these candidates appeared in the NEET PG 2025 session.
NBEMS declared that the results and scorecards of all 22 individuals are now invalid. “Use of the said scorecard or result of NEET-PG from the respective session for any purpose, such as employment, admission, registration, or enrolment, will be considered unlawful,” the notice stated.
The board also emphasized that it bears no responsibility for any admissions, jobs, or registrations obtained using the cancelled results. “NBEMS shall not be held liable for any consequences arising from the use of the annulled NEET PG results for employment or admission purposes,” it clarified.
NBEMS Action Spans Five Exam Sessions
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has revoked the NEET PG results of 22 candidates across five examination cycles. Among them, 13 appeared in NEET PG 2025, three in 2024, four in 2023, and one each in 2022 and 2021. This decision followed an in-depth investigation by the NBEMS Examination Ethics Committee into reports of malpractice during multiple exam sessions.
One candidate, Srusti Bommanahalli Rajanna, faced disqualification after the Karnataka High Court resolved Writ Petition No. 5785/2025. The remaining 21 individuals were found guilty of engaging in unfair practices as determined by the ethics panel.
Concerns Over Exam Transparency
The NEET PG 2025 examination saw over 2.42 lakh candidates, with 1,28,116 qualifying for admission to MD, MS, and PG Diploma programs. However, counselling for the 2025 session has not yet begun, as the examination process faces judicial review concerning transparency issues and a pending plea for the release of the full set of question papers and answer keys.
11 Foreign Medical Graduates Also Barred
In addition to NEET PG candidates, NBEMS has invalidated the results of 11 Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) candidates found guilty of similar misconduct between 2021 and 2025. The FMGE, required for foreign-trained doctors to obtain licensure in India, saw a notable dip in performance this year. The June 2025 session recorded an 18.61% pass rate, nearly 11 percentage points lower than the previous year. Out of 37,207 applicants, only 6,707 cleared the exam.
Reaffirming its stance on upholding examination integrity, NBEMS emphasized that stringent measures will continue against any individual found compromising the fairness and credibility of its medical entrance or licensure assessments.
