The National Medical Commission (NMC) has once again updated the NEET UG 2025 seat matrix for MBBS and BDS courses. For the 2025-26 academic year, 11,500 additional seats have been introduced, bringing the total number of medical seats in India to 1,29,025. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) recently extended the deadline for submitting courses and college preferences to October 16, 4 pm. While the last date to submit choices for the third round may be extended due to the added seats, the MCC has not provided any official confirmation yet.
According to the revised schedule, the seat allotment for NEET UG 2025 round 3 is expected to be announced on October 18.
Currently, the schedule remains uncertain as the MCC’s official website is down. Many candidates waiting for NEET PG 2025 counselling updates believes the website may be undergoing maintenance to release the admission schedule and brochure.
In an urgent notification on October 15, the MCC informed candidates about the inclusion of 58 MBBS seats for the third round of counselling. Out of these, 8 All India Quota (AIQ) seats have been added at Maharaja Jitendra Narayan Medical College, Coochbehar, while Sri Siddhartha Medical College DU, Tumkur, received 43 paid seats and 7 NRI seats.
For the third round, 363 candidates are eligible for admission under the NRI quota.
Excluding AIIMS and JIPMER, a total of 11,500 new seats has been approved for 2025-26. Last year, India had 1,17,750 medical seats, but this number has now increased to 1,29,025 following approvals for new medical colleges and additional seats.
