NEET UG 2025: Important Information
- Candidates interested in NEET (UG) 2025 must complete the application process exclusively through online mode by visiting the official website: https://neet.nta.nic.in.
- The online application form should be filled out only via the NTA portal. Applications submitted through any other method will not be accepted.
- Each candidate is allowed to submit only one application form. Multiple submissions may lead to disqualification.
- Applicants are required to strictly adhere to the guidelines provided in the official Information Bulletin and those published on the NTA website. Failure to follow these instructions may result in disqualification.
- The email ID and mobile number provided during registration must belong to the candidate or their parents/guardians. All updates and official communication will be shared through these registered contact details via email or SMS. The NTA bears no responsibility for messages not received due to incorrect information.
- Before filling out the online application, candidates are strongly advised to:
- Download and read the Information Bulletin and the sample application form (Replica).
- Review all eligibility criteria and instructions carefully to avoid any errors during the application process.
- Candidates must double-check all details entered in the online application form to ensure they are correct and complete.
- During registration, candidates must verify their mobile number by entering the OTP sent to it. Before fee payment, they must also enter the OTP received on their registered email ID.
- A copy of the Confirmation Page, the scanned OMR sheet, and the NEET (UG) 2025 Scorecard will be sent to the candidate’s registered email ID as well as to the email ID provided for the parent or guardian.
- Once the confirmation page is generated, key details such as name, contact information, address, parent/guardian details, category, disability status, educational background, date of birth, exam city choices, and gender will be treated as final. No changes will be permitted afterward.
- The NTA will not make any modifications or corrections to the application once submitted. Candidates must be extremely careful when filling out the form.
- The NTA is not responsible for any consequences arising from incorrect information submitted by the candidate in the application form.
- Applicants must provide an email ID and mobile number that they or their parents/guardians actively use, as all communications will be made through these channels. The NTA is not liable for missed updates due to incorrect or inaccessible contact details.
- Candidates are responsible for appearing at their designated examination centers on the date and time specified on their Admit Cards. All travel and related expenses are to be borne by the candidate.
- Requests for changes in the question paper language, exam city, date, or time mentioned in the Admit Card will not be entertained under any circumstance.
- Candidates should keep 6–8 recent passport-size color photographs with a white background. These will be used at various stages including form submission, examination, and counseling/admission processes. Using the same photo throughout ensures consistency.

NEET UG 2025: Steps to Apply Online
Step 1: Registration
Begin by registering on the official NEET UG 2025 portal. During registration, candidates must provide basic personal information and create a password, select a security question, and provide an answer in lowercase. After completing this step, a system-generated Application Number will be issued. This number is essential for continuing the application process and for all future logins and correspondence. For subsequent access, candidates can log in using their Application Number and the password they created.
Step 2: Filling the Application Form
After registration, candidates must log in using their Application Number and password to fill out the detailed application form. This includes:
- Personal and contact details
- Selection of the preferred language for the question paper
- Choice of examination cities
- Educational qualifications
- Uploading of required documents and scanned images (as specified)
It is important to ensure that all information entered is accurate and complete.
Step 3: Payment of Application Fee
Once the application form is filled, the next step is to pay the examination fee. This can be done online via:
- Net Banking
- Debit/Credit Card
- UPI
Note that additional processing charges and applicable GST may be added by the payment gateway or bank. A Confirmation Page will be generated only after a successful payment. If the confirmation page is not available after payment, candidates are advised to contact the respective bank or payment gateway using the contact details provided in the official Information Bulletin.
Final Submission
- After fee payment, download and print the Confirmation Page for future reference.
- Candidates may complete all three steps—registration, application, and payment—at once or separately within the application window.
- The application will be considered successfully submitted only when the fee transaction is completed and acknowledged.
NEET UG 2025: Examination Scheme
Syllabus of the Test
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the official syllabus for NEET UG 2025. The entrance examination will be conducted strictly based on this prescribed syllabus, which can be accessed through Appendix-III on the NMC’s official website. Pattern of the Test
The NEET UG 2025 examination pattern will include questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (comprising Botany and Zoology). As per the public notice dated January 25, 2025, the exam will revert to the pre-COVID pattern.
This means that the question paper will consist of 180 compulsory questions, and candidates will be required to attempt all 180 questions within 180 minutes (3 hours). These updates mark a return to the original structure followed before the changes introduced during the pandemic.
This revised pattern will apply to NEET UG 2025 for admissions in the 2025–26 academic session.

For each question in the NEET UG 2025 examination, candidates must select one option that they believe is the correct or most appropriate answer. The marking scheme for the test is as follows:
- Correct answer: +4 marks will be awarded
- Incorrect answer: –1 mark will be deducted
- Unanswered question: No marks will be given (0)
Candidates are advised to answer carefully, as incorrect responses will negatively impact their overall score due to the negative marking system.
Mode of NEET UG 2025 Examination
Candidates are informed that NEET UG 2025 will be conducted as a single-day, single-session examination in pen-and-paper mode, following the same format as the previous year (2024). The test will be held offline, where candidates will be required to mark their responses on a specially designed OMR sheet using a ballpoint pen.
Duration of Test
The total duration of the NEET UG 2025 examination will be three (03) hours. However, candidates who are registered as Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and have a physical limitation that affects their ability to write will be granted an additional one (01) hour of compensatory time. This extended time applies regardless of whether the candidate avails the services of a scribe or not.
Medium of the Question Papers
In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP), NEET UG 2025 will be conducted in multiple languages to promote inclusivity and accessibility across diverse regions of the country. The examination will be available in the following 13 languages:
- English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
Candidates can choose their preferred language at the time of filling the application form.

Eligibility to Appear in NEET UG 2025
The eligibility criteria for appearing in NEET UG 2025, as per the regulations set by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and Dental Council of India (DCI), are as follows:
- Candidates must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or should attain the age of 17 on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the first year of the undergraduate medical course. Accordingly, the lower age limit shall be as under:Â
- As per the notification issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC)— Letter No. U-11022/2/2022-UGMEB dated 09 March 2022 — there is no upper age limit for candidates appearing in NEET UG 2025.
- Indian Citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who intend to pursue Undergraduate Medical or Dental courses in foreign institutions must also qualify in NEET UG, as it is a mandatory requirement.
Criteria for NRI / OCI / Foreign Nationals
- Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and Foreign Nationals are permitted to seek admission to Medical and Dental colleges, depending on the policies set by the Government of India, individual State Governments, and specific institutions.
- Candidates claiming NRI or OCI status must upload a certificate issued by the Indian Diplomatic Mission in their country of residence as proof of their status. This document must be submitted along with the NEET UG 2025 online application and preserved in original form for presentation during counselling or admission.
- Foreign applicants are required to upload valid proof of citizenship, such as specific pages of a valid passport or a certificate issued by the appropriate authority in their home country confirming their nationality. These documents must be attached to their NEET UG 2025 application form.
- Foreign nationals are advised to consult with the respective medical or dental college or the concerned state authority to confirm their eligibility before applying.
- Indian citizens, NRIs, OCIs, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and foreign nationals can apply for admission to courses such as MBBS, BDS, Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homeopathy, provided they meet the eligibility requirements laid out by the relevant State Governments, Institutions, or Government of India.
Participation of UT of J&K and Ladakh in All India Quota
Students belonging to the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are eligible for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats. Candidates from these UTs can participate in the AIQ counselling process in the same manner as applicants from other states across India.
