The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has announced an extension of the choice filling process for Round-1 of the NEET PG Counselling 2025….
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has announced an extension of the choice filling process for Round-1 of the NEET PG Counselling 2025. The decision comes in response to changes in the postgraduate medical seat matrix communicated by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
According to the official notice released today, the choice filling will remain open “till further notice” as the authorities work on revising the seat matrix. The revision has become necessary following information received from the NMC regarding modifications in postgraduate (PG) seats and a withdrawal of 169 PG DNB seats by the NBE after the commencement of Round-1 counselling.
The MCC emphasized that the seat matrix is being revised in the broader interest of candidates. This process involves the removal of excess seats and the reapplication of the roster system to ensure adherence to the reservation policy outlined in the NEET PG information bulletin. The authorities are taking steps to maintain fairness in seat allocation while reflecting the updated seat availability accurately.
“The revision of the seat matrix is aimed at ensuring candidates’ interests are protected while maintaining compliance with existing reservation guidelines,” the notice stated. Candidates who have already started filling their choices or planning to do so are advised to stay updated for the revised seat details before making final submissions.
The revised schedule and updated seat matrix for Round-1 of the NEET PG Counselling 2025 will be made available on the MCC official website shortly. Additionally, the schedule for state-level PG counselling will also be revised and uploaded to the website to reflect the changes in seat allocation. Candidates seeking admission through state quotas are encouraged to check the website regularly for updates.
Experts note that the extension provides candidates with additional time to make informed decisions about their preferences while ensuring that the allocation process remains transparent. “Adjusting the seat matrix after receiving updated information from NMC and NBE is crucial to avoid discrepancies during counselling,” said a medical education analyst.
The NEET PG counselling process is a critical step for medical graduates seeking admission to MD, MS, and DNB courses across India. Any changes in seat availability can impact candidates’ strategy during choice filling, making timely updates from MCC vital. Candidates are urged to monitor official communications closely to avoid missing deadlines once the revised schedule is released.
This update also highlights the ongoing coordination between central authorities like the MCC, NMC, and NBE in managing postgraduate medical admissions, ensuring that seat allocation remains consistent with regulatory norms. Candidates are advised to regularly visit the MCC website and refer to official notifications for authentic information regarding counselling dates, seat matrix updates, and other procedural instructions.
