How to Register and Apply for NEET 2025

Applicants must follow the steps below to complete their NEET 2025 registration successfully:

1. Visit the Official Website – Go to neet.nta.nic.in.
2. New Registration – Click on the ‘New Candidate’ registration tab.
3. Read Instructions – Review the guidelines, check the acknowledgment box, and select ‘Click to Proceed.’
4. Select Identification Type – Choose the appropriate identification type.
5. Enter and Verify Details – Fill in the required information and verify accuracy.
6. OTP Verification – Enter the OTP received and submit the details.
7. Login Credentials – Once the username and password are generated, login to complete the application form.
8. Fill in Required Fields – Provide all mandatory details in the form.
9. Upload Documents – Submit the necessary documents as per the prescribed size and format.
10. Fee Payment – Pay the application fee via Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

What is the Process for Generating an APAAR ID for NEET 2025?

To generate an APAAR ID, NEET aspirants must have the following details ready:

Required Information:

• Full Name (as per UDISE and Aadhaar Card)
• Permanent Education Number (PEN)
• Date of Birth
• Gender
• Mobile Number
• Parents’ Names
• Aadhaar Number

Candidates must ensure that their personal details match their Aadhaar records.

Steps to Generate APAAR ID:

1. Visit the official website of the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).
2. Click on ‘My Account’ and select ‘Student’.
3. Choose ‘Sign Up’ and enter your mobile number, address, and Aadhaar details to create a DigiLocker account. If an account already exists, click ‘Sign In’.
4. Give consent to share Aadhaar details with ABC for KYC verification by selecting the ‘I Agree’ checkbox.
5. Enter your academic details as required.
6. Submit the form to generate your APAAR ID.

Once generated, the APAAR ID will be stored in DigiLocker for secure online access.

NEET 2025: New changes

Applicants seeking admission to undergraduate medical programs must review the changes introduced this year before completing the application form.

NEET 2025 Pattern

For NEET UG 2025, the NTA has removed the optional questions in Section B, reverting the exam to its pre-COVID format. Candidates will no longer have additional time or optional questions, which were introduced as a temporary measure during the pandemic and remained in place until 2024.

The NEET UG 2025 paper will consist of 180 compulsory questions:

• 45 questions in Physics
• 45 questions in Chemistry
• 90 questions in Biology

The exam will be conducted in a single shift using the pen-and-paper mode.

NEET 2025 Tie-Breaking Criteria

For the first time, NTA will use a random selection process guided by an independent expert committee if all tie-breaking provisions are exhausted. Unlike previous years, NEET 2025 will not consider the application number or age as tie-breaking criteria.

As per the NEET UG 2025 information brochure, if two or more candidates score the same marks or percentile, the inter-se merit will be determined in the following order:

1. Higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology)
2. Higher marks in Chemistry
3. Higher marks in Physics
4. Fewer incorrect responses compared to correct responses in all subjects
5. Fewer incorrect responses in Biology compared to correct responses
6. Fewer incorrect responses in Chemistry compared to correct responses
7. Fewer incorrect responses in Physics compared to correct responses
8. If the tie still persists after all criteria, a random selection process will be conducted under expert supervision

This change ensures a fairer and more transparent tie-resolution mechanism for candidates.

NEET 2025 Exam Centre

While completing the NEET 2025 online application form, candidates must select three exam cities in order of preference. The selection is restricted to:

• The state of permanent address or state of present address only.
• Candidates are advised to choose their city or nearby cities within their state of residence for convenience.
• Far-away cities in other states will not be allowed as exam center choices.

This policy ensures that candidates are assigned centers closer to their location, minimizing travel-related challenges.

NEET 2025 Exam and Reporting Timing

The NEET 2025 exam centers will open three hours before the test begins, allowing candidates ample time for security checks and verification. Entry will strictly close at 1:30 PM, and no candidate will be permitted inside the center after this time. The exam will be conducted from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and candidates are advised to arrive early to avoid any last-minute issues.
