The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the NEET UG 2024 results today (July 20). Candidates can check their city and centre-wise results on the official websites: exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/ and neet.ntaonline.in.
The NTA published the NEET UG 2024 results today following a directive from the Supreme Court. Initially announced on June 5, the results are now available in a city and centre-wise format due to the Court’s order, which is addressing multiple petitions concerning alleged irregularities in the exam, including a paper leak.
To download the NEET 2024 scorecard, candidates need to visit the official website and navigate to the “NEET Scorecard” link on the homepage. After filling in the required details and submitting them, the scorecard will be displayed. Candidates should download and save the scorecard for future reference once they have checked their credentials.
The Supreme Court will resume hearing the arguments on a batch of pleas concerning NEET UG on July 22. The petitions seek cancellation, a re-test, and a court-monitored probe into allegations of malpractice in the medical entrance exam. This year, nearly 23 lakh candidates appeared for the NEET UG at 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 cities abroad. On July 18, a bench comprising Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra questioned the Centre’s claim that the alleged leak of question papers in Hazaribagh occurred just one hour before the exam began, terming it far-fetched.
On July 18, the Supreme Court ordered the NTA to declare the NEET 2024 results city-wise and centre-wise while hearing petitions regarding the NEET-UG 2024 controversy. This decision aims to determine if candidates at allegedly compromised centres scored higher marks than those at other locations. The apex court is expected to give its final verdict on July 22 after reviewing pleas seeking the exam’s cancellation, a re-test, and a court-monitored investigation into malpractice allegations.
“We direct the NTA to publish the marks obtained by students in the UG-2024 NEET examination without disclosing their identities. The result should be declared city-wise and centre-wise by 12 noon on July 20, 2024, and uploaded on the NTA website,” stated the bench, which includes Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, in its order.
So far, 63 individuals have been taken into custody, with 18 of them arrested by the CBI, including four AIIMS Patna students alleged to be exam “solvers.” The CBI has indicated that the malpractice scale might be lower than initially thought, impacting fewer than 150 students. They stated, “Evidence of question papers being stolen is found only in the Patna-Hazaribagh case, affecting just one centre. Nationwide, the number of impacted students could be less than 150, and even fewer may have had prior knowledge of the question paper.”
