KMC Mangalore operates as a constituent institution of Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Established in 1955, it initially utilized the clinical facilities of Government Wenlock Hospital and Government Lady Goschen Hospital. The pre-clinical section commenced in Mangalore in 1961.
In 1977, Kasturba Medical College Mangalore gained independent status. Besides the Government hospitals, the college is associated with KMC Hospital, Attavar, founded in 1992, boasting a 500-bed capacity. The infrastructure meets international standards, featuring seven spacious air-conditioned lecture halls equipped with modern audio-visual teaching aids, including multimedia projectors. The fully air-conditioned library, accommodating around 500 individuals and offering internet access, holds over 10,000 books and subscribes to over 350 journals annually.
The Centre for Basic Sciences was inaugurated in Bejai in 2001 for first-year students. It includes two lecture halls, each with a capacity of 250. Separate hostels for both male and female first-year students are situated within the basic sciences complex. Overall, KMC Mangalore provides accommodation across nine hostels, with five designated for ladies. Upon completing their Final Examination, KMC Mangalore students must undergo a compulsory 12-month internship at the Institute. Graduates are expected to apply theoretical knowledge to practical skills under supervision, making themselves competent enough to handle all emergencies and provide basic medical consultation independently.
The Internship program is tailored to enable the graduate to diagnose and treat common clinical diseases, make appropriate referrals to higher-level healthcare facilities, and efficiently use essential drugs, infusions, blood, or its substitutes and laboratory services. b) Candidates engage in the selection of new choices for Round 2.

MOP –UP ROUND
- For the Mop-Up Round, fresh registration with the payment of registration fees is required for the following candidates:
- Those who registered in Round 2 and exited with forfeiture of fees can re-register with the payment of fees. However, candidates who have already joined and been admitted in Round 2 of AIQ/Deemed/ Central Universities/AIIMS/JIPMER/B.Sc. (Nursing) will not be eligible for the Mop-Up Round. (Candidates who registered but were not allotted a seat in Round 1 & Round 2 need not re-register).
- Fresh choice filling for the Mop-Up Round.
- Publication of Mop-Up Round results on the MCC website.
- Reporting at the allotted Medical/Dental College after the Mop-Up Round.
- A list of registered candidates, ten times the number of stray vacancies, will be sent to Deemed to be exhausted strictly in order of merit.
FINAL STRAY VACANCY ROUND

Candidates who registered for Round 1 without receiving any allotted seat are exempt from re-registration.

1. Fresh Registration with payment of the registration fee for Mop Up Round is applicable for the following candidates:
i. Those who registered in Round 2 but exited with forfeiture of fees without joining can register again with payment of fees.
However, candidates who have already joined and taken admission up to Round 2 of AIQ/Deemed/ Central Universities/DNB will not be eligible to participate in the Mop Up Round and Stray Vacancy Round. (Candidates who registered but were not allotted a seat in Round 1 & Round 2 need not re-register).
2. Engage in Fresh Choice filling for Mop Up Round.
3. Mop-Up Round results are published on the MCC website.

FINAL STRAY VACANCY ROUND
1. MCC of DGHS, MoHFW will organize AIQ Stray Vacancy Round for State-contributed seats.
2. Central universities/Institutes will have their rounds conducted by the MCC of DGHS, adhering to the eligibility conditions of the Central Institutes/universities/DNB.
3. Deemed Universities will conduct their Stray Vacancy Round independently.
i. There will be no fresh registration of candidates in the Final Stray Vacancy Round.
ii. No choice filling is allowed in the Stray Vacancy Round. Choices filled during the Mop-Up round will be considered for allotment in the Stray Vacancy Round.
iii. Online seat allotment will be carried out using dedicated software.
iv. Eligible candidates without any existing seat can participate in the Stray Vacancy Round.
RESULT

ADMISSION
Once a candidate is content with the allotment, they should proceed to the allotted college/institute to complete the admission formalities.
