NEET UG Counseling

neet ug counseling 2024

NEET UG counselling process 2025 for candidates selected under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ), as well as for all seats in Deemed Universities, Central Universities, ESIC, and AFMC—including institutions like Delhi University (DU), BHU, and AMU—will be conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), tentatively starting in the second week of June.

Counselling for seats managed by State Governments, Universities, or other institutions will be held separately, based on notifications issued by the respective authorities. Each counselling body for NEET UG counselling process will prepare a merit list for candidates in various categories, as declared by them during the admission or counselling registration process.

Counselling for Seats Under 15% All India Quota and all Seats in Central Institutions Including AFMC, ESI, Delhi University (DU), BHU & AMU and Deemed Universities

  • The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will conduct the NEET UG counselling process 2025 in an online mode. All official information and updates related to the counselling process will be available exclusively on the MCC website: www.mcc.nic.in.
  • Qualified candidates are strongly advised to carefully review the counselling guidelines and understand the necessary steps required for participation.
  • Counselling for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats will be held in two rounds, while Central and Deemed Universities will follow a three-round counselling process—First Round, Second Round, and a Mop-Up Round.
  • Candidates should regularly check the official website for updates related to NEET UG counselling process, circulars, notices, and other important announcements.

Counselling for Seats Other than 15% All India Seats

  • Candidates seeking admission to State Medical Colleges, Universities, or Institutions based on the NEET UG 2025 merit list must follow the NEET UG counselling process outlined by the respective State Governments and authorities of the concerned medical or dental institutions. Counselling for private medical colleges, excluding Deemed Universities, will also be conducted by the respective state authorities.
  • Each counselling body of NEET UG counselling process will prepare a merit list based on the category information provided by candidates at the time of registration. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will not alter any candidate’s data after the correction window has closed. Once the NEET result is declared, no further changes to the application details will be allowed.
  • In the application form, candidate categories are recorded as per the Central Category List. For admission through quotas other than the 15% All India Quota (AIQ), candidates must register using the relevant category as per the State Category List. Merit lists for state counselling will be created accordingly. Domicile requirements and other eligibility norms are determined by the respective states, and NTA does not play any role in this process.
  • During the NEET UG counselling process, candidate eligibility, category claims, and supporting documents will be verified by the respective authorities or institutions as per their guidelines.

Note: Except for AIIMS and JIPMER, all medical colleges in India admit students based on NEET 2025 scores. Candidates who qualify the exam should prepare for both All India and State-level counselling. For government colleges, the MCC conducts counselling for 15% AIQ seats, while state authorities handle the remaining 85%. Counselling for all seats in Deemed and Central Universities is carried out by the MCC. Admission to private or self-financed colleges is overseen entirely by the respective state counselling bodies.

NEET UG Counselling Process 2025 Step-by-Step

Step 1 – New User Registration

Begin by clicking the official registration link for NEET UG 2025 counselling. Enter details such as stream (Medical/Dental), NEET UG roll number, application number, candidate’s name, date of birth, and the security pin. Click the ‘Submit’ button. An agreement page will appear, offering the options ‘I Agree’ or ‘I Don’t Agree’. To proceed with registration, click on ‘I Agree’. Your login credentials will then be displayed. Take note of these credentials and set a password, securing it with a security question.

Step 2 – Enter Personal Details

In the next step, you must provide personal details such as your mother’s name, father’s name, and complete address. Once submitted, this information cannot be modified later. Ensure all details match those on your official documents, as they will be verified during admission.

Step 3 – Payment of Counselling Fee

You will now need to pay a non-refundable registration fee and a refundable tuition fee. Payment can be made online using a credit card, debit card, or net banking. A detailed fee structure will be provided in the following table for reference.

Step 4 – Registration Slip

Once the registration is successfully completed, a registration slip will appear on the screen. Candidates are advised to download and print this slip, as it will be required in later stages of the admission process. To proceed, click on the ‘Login’ button.

Choice Filling

Step 5 – Viewing Available Choices

The ‘Available Choices’ option becomes active when the counselling window opens. A list of eligible institutes and courses will be shown on the left side of the screen. Candidates who pay fees for both 15% AIQ/Central Universities and Deemed Universities can view and choose from both types of seat categories.

Step 6 – Selecting Choices

To select a course or college, click the ‘+’ icon beside the desired option. Your selected choices will shift from the left panel to the right. After selecting, you can click either:

  • ‘Save & Continue’ to proceed, or
  • ‘Save & Go to Home Page’ to save and exit.

Candidates can rearrange preferences using the up and down arrows or remove choices with the delete option. Drag-and-drop functionality is also available for rearranging selections.

Step 7 – Locking Choices

Locking your choices is essential for final submission. Changes can be made until choices are locked. If a candidate does not manually lock their preferences, the system will auto-lock them on the scheduled deadline, treating the existing list as final.

Step 8 – Print Filled Choices

It is recommended to take a printout of the selected choices for recordkeeping. Even if choices were not locked manually, candidates can still print the final list after the auto-locking process is complete.

Step 9 – Seat Allotment Result

After each round of counselling, the seat allotment results will be published. The result will include:

  • Seat allotment list
  • Individual seat allotment letter

The allotment list provides details such as the candidate’s name, roll number, category, allotted college, quota, and course. The seat allotment letter must be presented during the admission process at the assigned institute.

Step 10 – Reporting to the Allotted College

Candidates must report to the assigned college within the specified time to confirm their admission. They are required to submit the original documents listed below during verification:

  • NEET UG 2025 Admit Card
  • NEET UG 2025 Scorecard
  • Class 10 Mark Sheet and Certificate
  • Class 12 Mark Sheet and Certificate
  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • 6–8 passport-sized photographs (preferably same as in application form)
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)
  • Disability Certificate (if applicable)
  • Provisional Allotment Letter

Note: Both original documents and photocopies must be carried for verification purposes.
