MMU Solan is a famous medical college in Himachal Pradesh. It is built across 47 acres of lush greenery amidst the picturesque hills. It sits conveniently on the Chandigarh-Shimla National Highway at Sultanpur Road, Solan (H.P.). The college is named after the revered Maharishi Markandeshwar Ji, a devoted disciple of Lord Shiva. The foundation stone of Maharishi Markandeshwar University was laid by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal Ji, on 22 February 2009. Thanks to his blessings, the MMU commenced its operations in the academic session of 2010-11, enrolling students into the School of Engineering & Technology, School of Computer Technology, and School of Business Management.
The college is the first one in the state to fund itself. It has 150 seats for MBBS, which is the most in any medical college in the state. In 2018, the MMU Solan got approval for postgraduate courses like MD/MS in subjects like Anatomy, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Physiology, Pathology, Community Medicine, Biochemistry, and Forensic Medicine from the National Medical Commission and the Government of India. In 2019, with approval from the Government of India and the National Medical Commission, M.M. This centralized online counseling will cover 85% of state quota seats, encompassing reserved seats for Children of J&K Migrants, Children of Tibetan Refugees, NRIs, and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in Government Medical/Dental Colleges. Additionally, it will include all seats in Private Un-aided Medical/Dental Colleges, following the seat distribution.
Candidates, including NRIs, who have qualified in NEET UG 2024 and meet the prescribed eligibility criteria and other conditions are invited to apply online through the University website www.amruhp.ac.in. This application is for seeking admission to MBBS/MS/MD courses in various Medical Colleges in Himachal Pradesh.
HP MBBS Counselling 2024

Eligibility Criteria
General eligibility criteria for State Quota Seats:
Candidates must have qualified NEET UG 2024 to be eligible to apply online for admission to MBBS courses through centralized counseling. This applies to Government Medical Colleges as well as State Quota Seats in Private un-aided Medical Colleges situated in Himachal Pradesh. Further eligibility criteria must also be met as prescribed below.
Specific criteria for eligibility for State Quota Seats are as follows:
(i) Bonafide Himachali Students or the children of Bonafide Himachali, regardless of their place of schooling.
(ii) Children of parents who are not bonafide Himachalis but are Central Government employees (such as those of All India Services/Central Civil Services), OR employees working within the State of Himachal Pradesh in Autonomous Bodies/Institutions/Organizations/Semi-Government Bodies established by Central/Other State Governments, OR Serving Judges of the Hon’ble High Court of Himachal Pradesh, OR Regular employees of Himachal Pradesh Government/HP Government Undertakings/Autonomous Bodies wholly owned by Himachal Pradesh Government. They shall be eligible for admission in State Quota seats under the following conditions:
(a) The employee should have worked for a continuous period of two years within the State of Himachal Pradesh in the preceding four years on or before January 1 of the year of passing 10+2 examinations.
(b) His or her child should have passed 10+1 (or equivalent) and 10+2 (or equivalent) from recognized schools or colleges situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh and affiliated to ICSE/CBSE/HPBOSE or equivalent Boards/Universities established by law in India.
(iii) Children of regular employees of Himachal Pradesh Government/HP Government Undertakings/Autonomous bodies wholly owned by Himachal Pradesh Government shall be exempted from the schooling condition for eligibility for State Quota seats under the following criteria:
(a) Such employees have been holding posts outside Himachal Pradesh on or before January 1 of the year of passing 10+2 examinations for at least a continuous period of three years.
The eligibility criteria for Management Quota Seats in Private un-aided Medical Colleges in Himachal Pradesh are as follows:
Management Quota Seats will be filled from qualified candidates of NEET UG 2024 based on common merit determined by the University. There is no condition of being a Bonafide Himachali for these seats. Both Himachali and Non-Himachali (Indian National) candidates can apply online for admission to MBBS/BDS courses through Centralized Counselling, provided they meet the minimum educational qualification and age requirements.
Educational Qualifications
Candidates must have passed one of the following qualifying examinations at the time of the first round of counseling:
a) Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination equivalent to 10+2 after 12 years of study, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology (including practical tests), and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at a level not lower than the core course prescribed by NCERT under the 10+2+3 educational structure.
Candidates who have passed 10+2 from open schools or as private candidates are not eligible for admission. However, as per the NEET UG 2024 prospectus, candidates passing from recognized open school boards or with Biology/Biotechnology as an additional subject may be eligible, subject to ongoing legal proceedings.

B.Sc. Examination from an Indian University with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Bio-technology, provided the candidate has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
OR
Any other examination deemed equivalent to the intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Bio-technology, including practical tests and English.
Candidates must have individually passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology, and English and obtained a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Bio-technology combined (or 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates and 45% for PwD candidates).
For candidates studying abroad, their equivalency will be determined by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
Note: Mathematics marks are not considered for admission to MBBS/BDS courses.
(b) The above qualifications determine eligibility. Still, admission is based on merit drawn by the AMRU through a centralized counseling committee from qualified NEET candidates who successfully submitted their online applications within the stipulated period.
(c) Passing the English examination in Pre-medical or equivalent is compulsory at the time of counseling. No permission for passing English after admission will be granted.

(vi) Certificate of having passed the Primary (in case of backward Area Category) School examination from the recognized School showing the place of School situated.
(vii) Copy of Matriculation/Higher Secondary Part-I/Indian School Certificate showing the date of birth. No other certificate regarding the date of birth will be accepted.
(viii) Certificate of being a Bonafide Resident of Himachal Pradesh from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/Tehsildar of the area concerned.
(x) Certificate proving that the candidate’s parents are not Bonafide Himachalis but are Central Government employees working in Himachal Pradesh (such as All India Services/Central Civil Services), employees of Autonomous Bodies/Institutions/Organizations/Semi-Government Bodies established by Central/Other State Governments within Himachal Pradesh, Serving Judges of the Hon’ble High Court of HP, or regular employees of Himachal Pradesh Government/HP Government Undertakings/Autonomous Bodies wholly owned by the HP Govt. due to their service/posting in Himachal Pradesh, as per Appendix-13 of the prospectus (if applicable).
(xi) A copy of the equivalence certificate issued by the HP Board of School Education, Dharamshala, for candidates who have passed their 10+2 examinations from boards other than HP Board of School Education, Dharamshala/CBSE/ICSE.
(xii) Affidavit on plain paper stating that the candidate is availing the domicile State advantage in Himachal Pradesh only and not elsewhere.
(xiii) Four copies of passport-size color photograph.
HP MBBS Merit List 2024
1. AMRU will create and publish a combined and category-wise merit list based on the All India merit ranking of NEET UG 2024 for qualified candidates who have submitted their application forms online within the stipulated period. Candidates will be assigned new merit ranks for admission to MBBS courses in Government and Private un-aided Medical Colleges under State/Management Quota and NRI seats. The merit list will be available on the University Website, www.amruhp.ac.in, and candidates should check their new merit rank and attend counseling according to the separately notified schedule.
2. Candidates will be admitted to MBBS courses under State/Management Quota in Government and Private Medical Colleges based on the merit list drawn by the AMRU, subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria. Candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria for State Quota seats will be considered for admission under management quota seats only in private medical/dental colleges, if interested.
3. If State Quota seats remain vacant after exhausting the merit list, only Himachali Bonafide candidates admitted under Management Quota will be converted into State Quota to fill the vacant seats based on merit and Category. These candidates will be charged the fee applicable to State Quota candidates.
HP MBBS Counselling Schedule and Admission Process 2024
1. (i) Online counseling will be conducted for provisional allocation of available seats based on merit-cum-choices/preferences filled by candidates in their online application forms within the specified period. Candidates should carefully select their choices/preferences of course, college(s), and quota after the merit list is published.
(ii) Admission to Government and Private Medical Colleges (State & Management Quota) will be completed through online allotment by the Common/ Centralized Counselling Committee under the Chairmanship of the Director of Medical Education & Research, H.P. Shimla.
(iii) After provisional seat allocation, candidates must download Provisional Allotment Letters from the University website, complete verification of documents at the respective college, and fulfill all eligibility criteria, medical fitness, and fee payment requirements to confirm their admission. Failure to do so within the stipulated period will result in automatic cancellation of the allocated seat.
(iv) Submission of the online admission application form and NEET UG 2024 score does not guarantee admission. Final admission is subject to meeting prescribed eligibility criteria and merit, determined by the Admission Committee according to prospectus provisions.
2. (a) After the 1st round of counseling, the 2nd round will commence according to the schedule. Candidates can submit fresh choices/preferences for provisional allocation against vacant seats. Shifting/up-gradation between colleges will be allowed during the 2nd round. Candidates who wish to select college choices based on their course and quota preferences during the 2nd or subsequent rounds of counseling must submit the following token amount. Failure to do so will result in no seat allocation. However, candidates who have already been admitted during the 1st round of counseling in Government Medical Colleges, including Private ones, are exempt from remitting this token fee while indicating their preferences for the 2nd round of counseling.

(b) Candidates are advised to fill choices/preferences based on their preferences, as seats may become available due to shifting/conversion from one college to another. Seats in the 2nd round will be allocated based on merit-cum-choice/preference submitted by candidates.
(c) During the 2nd round, candidates admitted in the 1st round who participate but do not get an upgrade will retain their seats. Vacant seats from the 1st round will be filled in the 2nd round, with the remaining reserved seats converted to unreserved as per the counseling procedure.
3. (a) Following the 2nd round, the 3rd round of counseling will be conducted. Candidates must submit fresh choices/preferences within the stipulated period. Shifting/up-gradation between colleges will be allowed during this round.
(b) Seats in the 3rd round will be allocated based on availability and merit-cum-choice/preference submitted by candidates. Any remaining reserved seats will be converted to unreserved as per the counseling procedure.
4. A Stray Vacancy Round of counseling will be conducted for candidates not admitted to any Medical College. No inter-shifting between Government Medical Colleges will be allowed. However, shifting/up-gradation between colleges and courses will be permitted based on merit-cum-choice/preference.
5. Himachali Bonafide candidates admitted under management quota in private colleges may be shifted to HP Quota vacant seats during the Stray Round based on merit.
6. Final eligibility will be determined after document verification by the Admission Committee. Candidates are responsible for providing accurate information. Admission is provisional based on merit-cum-choice/preference, and the University is not responsible for ineligibility discovered later.
7. Candidates should regularly check the AMRU website for updates and follow the counseling schedule closely.
8. Admission surrendered/vacated after the 2nd round is not permitted, except for up-gradation until the 3rd round.
9. Candidates participating in subsequent rounds of counseling must remit a token fee, refundable if no seat is allocated or forfeited if the candidate does not join the allocated seat. MMU Solan may conduct a Mop-up round if needed, and vacant seats will be filled through a Stray Vacancy Round.
10. Incomplete documents may result in rejection of candidature. The decision of the Director of Medical Education & Research, HP, is final.
11. Provisional Allotment Letters will be issued online, and admission is subject to final eligibility determined by the Admission Committee. Candidates must report to the allocated college within the specified period.
12. Token fees will be refunded if no seat is allocated or forfeited if the candidate does not join. Candidates can claim a refund within six months through an online claim form.
HP NEET PG Counselling 2024
The Department of Medical Education and Research, Himachal Pradesh, will conduct online Common/Centralized Counselling to fill 50% of State Quota PG (MD/MS) degree seats in Government Medical Colleges and all seats in private Medical Colleges of the State. The allocation will be based on the State merit list prepared by the Controller of Examination, Atal Medical & Research University, Mandi at Ner Chowk, who also serves as the Member Secretary of the Common/Centralized Counselling Committee. Eligibility and Selection Criteria in Respect of Direct Candidates for 50% State Quota Seats
1. Eligible candidates include:
– Graduates of Medical Colleges in Himachal Pradesh.
– Bonafide Himachalis with MBBS from NMC-recognized institutes.
– Children of HP Government Employees or employees of Autonomous Bodies funded by HP Government who have secured admission to MBBS courses through NEET or other All India entrance exams.
2. Candidates mul registration from either the National Medical Commission or any State Medical Council.
